  37. When we added full key mapping to Kermit 95, we were dismayed to learn
  38. that the scan codes reported by Windows were not all the same as those
  39. reported to MS-DOS Kermit by the PC BIOS, and we recognize the confusion
  40. and inconvenience this is likely to cause.  But Joe is right -- there is
  41. nothing to be done but swallow the pill.  Any attempt to build in a
  42. detailed map of Windows scan codes to PC BIOS ones (to maintain
  43. compatibility with MS-DOS Kermit) would be futile.  There are dozens,
  44. probably hundreds of different national and special purpose keyboards in
  45. the world, not to mention underlying BIOSes and drivers, and there is no
  46. way for the software to know what is printed on each keytop of each kind
  47. of keyboard.
